The Fin Project explores the history and evolution of surfboard fins through controlled photographic technique.
As both a surfer and a photographer, I’ve always been fascinated by the forms around us while surfing—like the shape of the wave, the subtle transitions on a board, and how even a tiny adjustment in design can transform a board into something extraordinary.
In total, I photographed over a hundred fins, boards and ephemera, ranging from the earliest experiments from the early 1930's, to 3D printed and alternative modern designs that continue to push the limits of innovation.
